Commonwealth Photobooth

“you look good”

Owners: Rollins Mathews (she/her) & Gwen Mathews (she/her)

Established: 2022

Services: Commonwealth Photobooth is a new kind of photobooth experience. It is cleaner and more sustainable than your traditional photobooth. Unfussy, sleek, and so easy to use, it gives guests and party hosts the option for photos, gifs, and boomerangs all customized to your wedding day. Our booth is entirely digital which means no added waste or lost prints!

Member Statement: “As lifelong Kentuckians who have worked in wedding photography (Rollins) and real estate (Gwen), we know this state is not always as equitable as it should be. As such, we aim to bring inclusivity and equity to whatever space we inhabit. We also believe everyone is entitled to celebrate the way they wish. Our hope is that our booth will bring joy and added memories to your celebration.”

River City Tintype

“History in hand: contemporary heirloom photographs using a 19th century process”

Owners: Rudy Salgado (he/him)

Established: 2018

Services: For 170 years, tintype photographers have created images in metal and silver that last lifetimes. I use original recipes, antique lenses, and a mobile darkroom to make portraits that can be passed down through generations. Honor yourselves and fellow celebrants with portrait sessions at my Louisville studio or on-site at your ceremony or reception. Studio sessions make great wedding party gifts and a memorable gathering before the ceremony. Each hand-poured plate takes 5-10 minutes to make. If I bring my mobile tintype studio to your big day, attendees may sign up for a time slot. Depending on the size of your event, a portion of your guests would get their images made in tintype. For instance, I made 50 plates at a recent 3-hour wedding reception. Everyone will see the entire process from coating a plate to developing the image, and each participant will receive their plates and a high-resolution scan after the event.

Member Statement: “Everyone deserves to have their love elevated, preserved, and shared. I’m committed to using the power of portraiture to embrace and affirm love in all forms. As an artist and educator, I’m proud to share my skills helping people feel at ease as they experience photography as a magical, physical process and an heirloom for future generations.”
